LOOMTONE X MARIN GRIFFITH

Multi-media artist Marin Griffith and Loomtone, a sextet co-led by Katie Webster (saxophone) and Miranda Agnew (trumpet), present a pop up installation and live performance embodying an ongoing process of mutual inspiration. Loomtone will perform a set of music composed collaboratively by Miranda and Katie while viewers are encouraged to move around the space observing a multimedia textile work Griffith developed through engagement with Loomtone’s compositions.

Conversations with Griffith and reflections on the patterns and themes present in her work inform Loomtone’s work, which centers collectivity, freely fluctuating between extremes of lyricism and angularity, intricate counterpoint and dissolution of structure. Loomtone also features Ariel Vera (voice), rocío sánchez (cello), David Macchione (bass) and Alex Yoo (drums).

Katie Webster is a saxophonist, composer-improviser born in Seattle, WA. Based in Brooklyn, NYC, she has performed at international venues including Bird’s Eye Jazz Club (CH), The Jazz Gallery (NYC), Porgy and Bess (AU), and the Monterey Jazz Festival. She has played in bands led by musicians such as Pablo Held, Tony Malaby, and Julia Hülsmann and was a member of the 2024 Focusyear Band in Basel, Switzerland. In 2025, she received ASCAP’s Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composer Award, and ASCAP’s Phoebe Jacobs Prize.

Miranda Ingram Agnew is a trumpet player, composer, improviser, and educator based in Brooklyn, NY, deeply invested in building supportive and bold spaces for music-making and lasting connections through creative practice. She recently brought her quartet project to the Jazz Gallery as part of the Festival of New Trumpet Music, is a 2025 MacDowell Fellow in Composition, and a member of Mutual Mentorship for Musicians Cohort 8.

Marin Griffith is an interdisciplinary artist born in Denver, Colorado, based in Brooklyn, New York. She plays between painting, printmaking, and textiles, creating large hanging works that bend between abstraction and image-making. She also has a poster practice that sits closely to Jazz but is influenced by a wide diaspora of sounds. The process is fed by an adoration of music and a fond curiosity for the graphic design that has accompanied music. Griffith has a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. She has been awarded the Florence Leif Grant, attended programs at Anderson Ranch in 2023, the Hamilton Woodtype Museum in 2023, High Ground Design conference 2023-2025, and, most recently, has been an artist-in-residence at Chautauqua Institution.
